Supay Punku. The Devil’s Door. 1Night/2Days

The Devil's Gate is known for its beautiful waters that offer both adventure and excitement.  Walking up river through the cool waters with lush rainforests on either side brings you a feeling of adventuring.  When the river opens up and we find a cascading waterfall down one valley and a huge stone 'gate' down the other valley which is where the name Supay Punku comes from.   Trip Details In a short 3 hour drive from La Paz, we are in the tropical zones of the Yungas, beginning of the Amazon basin. After reaching the summit, the closest mountain pass to the city we begin an abrupt descent towards the tropical valley with the consequent transition in flora and fauna and a rise in temperature as we descend.  Submerging in the characteristic humidity of the tropical lands we will pass green hillsides, precipices, rivers, waterfalls, and a rampant vegetation as our hosts. Do not miss this great opportunity to know this wonderful destination, where we will feel nature at its best. A hidden place full of life waiting for you. On this tour, we will visit the paradise waterfall. Attractive nature that to access we will make a 3-hour walk in the middle of the greenest forest that you can imagine, passing rivers and interpretive trails, we can bathe in the natural pools offered by the river Suapi and this waterfall paradise. In addition to this, we will have another great attraction, "Supay Punku", its name of Quechua origin that has as meaning "door of the devil".

El Rincon de Tigre. The Tiger’s Corner.

The Tiger's Corner got its name from the abundant number of Jaguars that live in the area.  Though the felines are rarely seen during the day, the main attraction of the tour is the towering waterfall than sprays those brave enough to climb up next to it.  The waterfall also provides a great spot to relax and swim in the refreshing waters for those who wish to stay on the tamer side. The recently renovated road allows tourists to drive to within minutes of the site.  A short 15-minute walk from the car park brings you face to face with the powerful waterfall. About the Location El Rincón del Tigre, or the Tiger’s Corner, is located in the town of Taipiplaya, 156 km from the city of La Paz and 10 km from Caranavi, in the province of the North Yungas. With a height of 800 m.s.m., it has an average temperature of 30ºC. The landscape is overwhelming and its waterfalls incomparable. The highest waterfall exceeds 80 meters. Two others rise up to 50 meters each, and in its fall, the crystal clear water creates huge natural pools between the rocks. The beauty of these waterfalls only compares with the warmth of its jungle environment. And this is just one of the attractions of the town of Taypiplaya, "La Joya de Caranavi", the jewel of Caranavi. In the circuit of waterfalls of Taypiplaya is the site baptized as the Rincon del Tigre. This place owes its name to the traditional presence of jaguars (feline which is known as tiger by the locals). Only 40 minutes of walking from the village rise the three huge waterfalls. The place is flanked by huge stones of slab where the water runs despite the thick vegetation; however, the skill of the community members with the machete could open a path that reveals the clarity of the slopes. Warm and crystal clear, the water invites diving into the natural pools that are formed with the falling of the waters are ideal for the swimmers. The boldest come to the caves. From here, the route of the waterfalls invites adventure because there are no paths defined in the middle of the virgin forest. There are many sites that, despite their incomparable beauty, have hardly been seen by human eyes.
